Prefabrication refers to elements that are designed and constructed offsite prior to installation on site. Prefabrication prevents waste, streamlines construction timelines, and allows for more quality control in production. While this process involves more rigorous upfront design, it leads to a smoother construction process down the line. Mass-Timber elements are particularly well suited to prefabrication methods, so these innovative construction strategies go hand in hand. Additionally, light-frame construction elements containing structural framing, insulation and membranes can be prefabricated and installed on site as well. For construction with prefabricated panels, we are happy to work with different assemblage options and with different suppliers!
